Well, I got back from the sleep lab, took a nap and went out to vote. It occurred to me that there should be a blessing to say when you leave the polling place. After all, I wandered in, told them my name, received my ballot, had a range of candidates for which to vote, turned in my ballot (me! a woman!), left the polling place and did not get shot down in the street for voting for the wrong party. I can reasonably expect that Republiclan neighbors will not break down my door and cut me to pieces with machetes later tonight. Our front-line guardians of democracy are little gray- and blue-haired ladies and unemployed white-collar workers, not troops with automatic weaponry.
Seriously - there should be a prayer of thanksgiving.
