Mom's 80th birthday party went well. She enjoyed it, the food was great and we came in under budget. All in all, a win.
Yesterday, I got to go kayaking with my favorite cousin from Dunedin over to Caladesi Island. The wind was against us the whole way, as was the tide, so we figured that paddling back ought to be a cinch. Nope. Someone will have to explain to me how we nearly got blown out into the Gulf by wind and tide against us on the way back. But it was a gorgeous sunny day, we had a lovely time, an osprey swept by no more than 10 ft. over our heads and we wandered around places our grandparents had grown up and collected shells.
Today, I took Mom shopping, only demanding a cup of coffee and a danish from Panera as payment. Then we prepped food for the seder. Roast lamb, roast potatoes, broccoli, asparagus and multitudes of chocolate for dessert.
Tonight was the first night of Passover and we had a nice seder with my cousin and godparents out near the pool. Nice to read the Haggadah by candlelight and watch the full mooon rise over the lake.
Tomorrow, we meet up with the brother-in-law, the only person I know to flunk out of the Federal Witness Protection Program. Good times ahead, f-list!
