Well, we survived another High Holy Day season(mostly). If you've never spent 25 hours fasting and praying and leading services for ungrateful children, it's a little hard to describe. The best description I can offer is one I shared with [livejournal.com profile] imkalena which is "I've just finished running a marathon, but the wolves all dropped out several kilometers ago." But there is a feeling of spiritual housecleaning achieved and that is lovely.

Supposedly, the Fast of Ramadan began at the same time as the Fast of Yom Kippur. The last time the two holidays coincided like this, I think Anwar Sadat was assassinated. I'm sort of surprised that the Middle East didn't explode in a hypoglycemic, undercaffeinated ball of nuclear pissiness.

Ah well, the point of being a Jew is to hope and have faith in the better parts of human nature. Let's hope that we can all see a greater peace descend on us, on them and on the whole world. (And no, I don't mean a final kind of decompositional peace.)

It is now time for me to remove the two vigorously grooming cats from the top of my monitor before they explode.
Mood:: 'hopeful' hopeful
