Quiet week, mostly. Some tussle with mood and circumstances, but I believe I may be winning the race.
We took the afternoon off and went to the County Fair. Fun - saw photos and woodworking and visited the stock barns and the garden exhibits and the County Extension folks... all pleasant. It was certainly nice to wander around in the sun with my husband and chat about nothing critical. It certainly made up for the 2.5 hours spent in the darned board meeting this evening.*sigh*
Part of the meeting was uninteresting, so I tried an exercise that was really a revelation. First, I listed all the things in my life for which I am grateful. Then I got more specific. Under "Friends", I listed all the names I could think of. Then I listed all of the people who had been friends of my in childhood, etc. and with whom I have fallen out of touch or from whom I have moved on or who have left me behind, etc. The sheer length of the lists really carried home the gratitude thing to me. I listed all the pets I could remember, too (different category, honest). There were some great cats on that list!
If you need a shot of love and the permission to wallow in fond memories and to bless and release the memories of those with whom you have broken in less-than-perfect circumstances, I can advocate this exercise. I spent the rest of the (still) uninteresting board meeting feeling wrapped in love and far less morose than when I had walked in.
Of course, dear friends, you were on that list, too.
