Gray day, allergies, up late and up early, stupid neighbor dog, unshaven legs, no breakfast, 3 meetings in my immediate future... I'd say the outlook is SNAFU.

Now that the whining is out of the way, hooray for the Senate actually voting that defining marriage is none of their damned business. Let's hope the House gets the same clue. I encourage you all to send your President a note indicating that you are not nearly as interested in the "definition of marriage as heterosexual only" issue as you are about other topics hot in the cafes right now, such as:

the war in Iraq, the war in Afghanistan, the price of oil, the failing of our public school systems, the rampaging corruption in both parties, our over-crowded prisons, the huge deficit and our continuing inability to figure out the immigration issues clearly and without bias. Placed up against that list, I can't wait to go throw rice for Marcy & Jeannie or Adam & Steve. (Actually, I totally support marriage for any citizen to anyone human and over the age of consent that s/he wishes. If you don't, write and tell me why. I'll always listen to a reasoned argument.)

It's enough to make me miss President Clinton and his sign that read, "It's the economy, Stupid!" (although that may be apocryphal) It's just that President Bush would require a much longer piece of paper to keep the basic issues in front of his eyes.
